17 Locks at the Stratford Upon Avon end 40 to 56 and a big spread of locks 2 to 38 around the mid-point and the Kingswood Arm.
Completed in 1816. Closed in 1939 and reopened in 1964 after considerable restoration.
Connecting to the Worcester and Birmingham Canal in the southern Birmingham suburbs. Running south to Stratford Upon Avon where it connects to the River Avon. Linking to the Grand Union Canal via the Kingswood Arm.
Above Kingswood Junction the canal is known as the North Stratford Canal and below as the South Stratford Canal.
Locks are numbered 2 to 56. Lock number 1 is the Guillotine Stop Lock 1 a few hundred yards in from Kings Norton Junction.
