Afloat or Ashore - Canals, Navigable Rivers and Boating on them!

Everyone has got their own idea of fun. Whether it is staying in or going out. Some of us, however, get out and about, whether it's occasionally or on a regular basis. This is why Simon Fall has written this website - I Do Canals!

Back in 2020, during the Covid lockdowns, I had way too much time on my hands. I was already deeply interested in the canals and their history and so decided to begin a website. I already had experience in designing hundreds of websites but wanted this one to be very different. There were/are many websites with information on the canals and waterways of Great Britain, but many were lacking and it was necessary that you had to go to several to find all that you needed. I embarked upon the I Do Canals website and later social platforms not knowing just how much there is to do. The website continues to grow every week and has now become a very useful resource.

Great Information - an ever-growing resource on everything afloat on the canal and those services needed to keep you afloat.

Marinas, Boat Builders, Chandlery, Waterside Pubs and Attractions to Visit - A continually growing wealth of information for holiday makers, leisure cruisers or live aboard's.
The Resource Pages call large amounts of information from a database. Give them a few seconds to load.

Events – Soon to get under way, this section will help you pinpoint events along your canal or navigable river route to visit on your journey.

Blog posts – I hope to attract a few different bloggers who. like me, just enjoy the waterways and the history surrounding their interest and reason for being.

There is more – we are making it easier for you to get to your favourite place or find that needed resource! Just hover over the Boat Build & Fit Out, Waterside Attractions or Cruising Resources links in the main menu and select from the lists displayed. There's a continually growing list in each category. Over time, some will acquire reviews.

So who are we? We are not going to say too much as of yet. There is one thing you should know though - we love Canals and Navigable Waterways. And we hope you find what you're looking for when browsing through our website. You are important to us. So if you've got any questions, go to our Contact Page and send us a message. We look forward to hearing from you!

WE LOVE OUR WATERWAYS – JUST LIKE YOU

Many entries have several services on offer, on average 5 services (some have many more). This means there are approx. 5 x the number of services listed.
