Built in 1796, seven locks from lock 7 at The New Inn to lock 13 at Whilton Marina on the Grand Union Canal. A total rise of 62 feet and 10 inches.

Also known as Whilton Locks, it just depends on who you talk to or where you read about them.

The locks are 72 feet long and 14 feet 3 inches wide. Two narrow boats at once can easily navigate the locks. Two boat crews at once makes these locks a lot easier. The gate beams are quite large in order to counter balance the gates.

At the bottom gate, there is Whilton Marina, Chandlery Shop and Cafe.

Travelling through Buckby Locks means you are going to go through two of the canal networks greatest tunnels. Braunston Tunnel (north of the locks) and Blisworth Tunnel to the south.

Braunston Tunnel is 2042 yards long (1867.2m) and 15 feet 7 inches wide. It takes about 20 minutes to travel from end to end.
Blisworth Tunnel is 3076 yards long (2813m) and 15 feet wide. It takes about 35 minutes to travel from end to end.

Both tunnels can take two passing narrow boats. Navigation note: Take a brolly or rain coat...
