Siddington Locks
Lock Flight,  in or near to Cirencester

The Twenties, Siddington, Cirencester GL7 6ES

Siddington Locks can be found on the Thames and Severn Canal in Gloucestershire and quite near to Cirencester.

What can be found at: Siddington Locks

Found almost halfway along the Thames and Severn Canal at the village of Siddington.

The canal fell into disuse and decay. Mostly abandoned by 1927 and all by 1941.

The upper lock was also the location of the a junction for the Cirencester Arm, also abandoned.

Like many of the locks on the Thames and Severn Canal, the locks were shortened to save water. You can see in the photo where the original gate placement was.

The locks are in a condition that could be restored and there is considerable work occurring on the canal to bring it back to life. It's a long project over several decades.

Perhaps one day, the Siddington Locks could be reborn.

Also shown will be Stand Alone: winding holes, moorings, water, elsan, refuse disposal and toilets etc.
