Opened 1772 although not fully completed until 1837. Originally, one of the loops in the original, meandering Birmingham Canal which was later renamed the Birmingham Canal Network (BCN) Main Line. The loop is not a loop any longer. Most of the original loop has been filled in and built over. It used to rejoin the Main Line a little south of Coselely Tunnel.
